A 68-year-old Hong Kong man surnamed Wong went missing after a day out fishing on his own on Port Island off the town of Sai Kung on Wednesday afternoon.

At around 6pm, the 72-year-old boat operator who Wong had hired to ferry him to his fishing spot called police when he was unable to locate his customer. Officers from the police, fire and flying services were mobilized to search for Wong, Oriental Daily reported.

Rescuers found the man’s belongings and his fishing equipment on the shore, Sing Tao Daily reported. The search is ongoing.
