China’s Anbang Insurance Group said in a statement on Tuesday that reports of Anbang investment in 666 Fifth Avenue are not true, and Anbang has no plans to invest in the building, reports Reuters. The property is owned by White House senior adviser Jared Kushner’s family and a Bloomberg headline Monday, “Kushners Set to Get $400 Million From Chinese Firm on Tower,” more than implied a deal was all but done. The controversy surrounding the deal and previous reported meetings between Mr Kushner and Anbang, stems from the Chinese insurance firm’s suspected connections to senior Chinese government leadership and concerns of conflicts of interest due to Kushner’s role in the Trump administration.
