Plans to launch Amazon ecommerce services in Singapore in the first quarter of the year have been pushed back to “later this year,” reports TechCrunch.

The delay comes just as Alibaba’s Southeast Asia partner Lazada launched a Singapore-dedicated Taobao website this week.

TechCrunch also speculated that, following the addition of 100 staff members in Australia, Amazon may end up launching Down Under before getting up and running in Singapore.
