A 23-year-old Hong Kong woman escaped from a rapist in a Yau Ma Tei alley in Kowloon at 4am by distracting him with compliments about his muscular physique.

Cook Leung Chun-kit, 27, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted rape in a court hearing on Thursday, Sing Tao Daily reported.

On August 22, 2015, Leung drank seven bottles of beer in a Tsim Sha Tsui bar and followed the woman when she left work, Apple Daily reported, citing a court hearing on Thursday.

Leung followed the woman to Chi Wo Street in Yau Ma Tei and suddenly dragged her into an alley. He attempted to rape her, but the woman started complimenting his muscular physique. She asked whether he was going to apply for a job as a policeman or fireman.

The victim then kicked Leung’s genitals, ran off and called the police. Leung was arrested five days later.

Sing Tao reported that Leung said in court that he was unhappy that night because he had failed an admission examination for an international culinary institute and he was attracted to the woman.

He will be sentenced on March 9, media reports said.
