Four Pakistani men appeared in Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday over the robbery of a telecoms shop in Tsim Sha Tsui on June 30 last year.

Anees Khiyam, a 26-year-old jobless man, and three compatriots are each charged with one count of robbery.

They are accused of stealing 362 smartphones worth a total of HK$369,600 (US$47,625) from Sunrise Telecom Co Ltd, which is located in the Beverley Commercial Centre Shopping Arcade in Chatham Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, the Sing Tao Daily reported  on Thursday.

One of the four men threatened an Indian security guard with a box cutter during the incident, media reports said. Police officers said they identified the suspects using footage from closed-circuit television.

The men have been remanded in custody until their next hearing in the District Court on March 1.
