More mainland Chinese tourists are giving Taiwan a miss, and those who visit are spending a lot less.
Indeed, only less than half of last year’s total number of Chinese tourists – 4.1 million – are expected this year.
All has not been rosy for Taiwan’s tourism industry since independence-leaning President Tsai Ing- wen was sworn in on May 20. Since then, the total number of Chinese visitors to Taiwan has fallen 22.3 per cent, according to Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council. Read more
