Chinese lad Qi Mi gave it a new meaning when he sang a legendary Tamil song sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam, “Kalyana maalai kondadum penne” from the 1989 hit movie “Puthu Puthu Arthangal (new, new meanings).”
Singing a Tamil song has been his long-standing wish, Mi says before going on to sing the song. Though his slang is slightly different from that of native Tamil speakers, his rendering of the song is so adorable. Even, legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has felt the same. And, that’s exactly why this song video is going viral on YouTube and social media.
Qi Mi says this one is a tribute to Ilaiyaraaja’s recent US tour.
