Everything that’s “Descendants of the Sun” is gaining popularity and widespread attention, thanks to the stupendous success of the drama and the adorable lead pair Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo. Now, the Songs have attained international fame and their drama has been dubbed into over 70 languages. Even their ancestral homes have gained media attention. Drama filming sites aren’t left out either.
One of those sites, Taebaek city has seen a dramatic increase in tourists since the official opening of a filming site of “Descendants of the Sun,” city officials have said.
Tourists have visited the remote city in Gangwon Province to check out the filming site, Yonhap reported.
For 11 days from Aug. 1, about 7,810 people visited the Taebaek production site, the report said. The number, however, has jumped 66% to 12,997 since the opening on Aug. 12, making the total number of visitors surpass 20,000.
This is the place where the medical camp led by Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-kyo) and the Taebaek military troop headed by Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki) were stationed, in the super-hit drama.
