Cloth hangers featuring the bust of South Korean celebrities are a rage in China, especially the Song Joong-ki hangers that are selling like hot cakes. Song Joong-ki has become an icon, thanks to the stupendous success of the South Korean drama “Descendants of the Sun” that became an international phenomenon. It was sold to over 27 countries, including the UK, and translated into 32 languages.
Song Joong-ki is a hot candy and adored by Asians. Cashing in on his charm, Chinese retailers such as Taobao have started selling celebrity hangers priced at 39 Yuan.
Besides Song Joong-ki, Yibada reported, other Hallyu stars that have become hanger accessories include Bigbang, EXO, Kim Soo-hyun and Lee Jon-suk. Its website also has faces of Chinese celebrities sold as hangers, according to China Christian Daily.
However, Blossom Entertainment, the agency of Song Joong-ki, is not happy with the Hallyu hangers for not securing from the company permission to use the images of its talents. In a statement published by Soompi, Blossom said, “We have not signed a contract [for the production and sale of the hangers]. After close examination we will take appropriate measures.”
