Lee Min-ho fan? Here’s a couple of reasons for you to cheer: the Asian heartthrob will be appearing in a new SBS drama, playing dual roles.
According to Soompi, the new drama has been tentatively titled “The Legend of the Blue Sea” and going to be a mermaid story. It adopts the theme from Korea’s first historical (romance) storybook. In the Joseon-era storybook, it is recorded that real-life figure Kim Dam-nyeong returned mermaids and mermen that were caught by fishermen back to the sea.
Lee will play Kim Dam-nyeong’s son Kim Mu during the Joseon dynasty and a genius con artist Heo Jun-jae in the present day. Both of his characters will fall in love with mermaid Jun Ji-hyun.
Filming starts later this month on the island of Palau and in Spain next month. In all probity, this drama will be aired later this year.
This drama will be the last acting role for Lee Min-Ho before he joins the military for a two-year stint. It will also be the first acting role for actress Gianna Jun since she gave birth to her first child.
