American ice-cream outfit Cold Stone will be introducing soft-serve ice cream this month in Japan, as its people are fond of this tender-textured dessert.
It indeed is special to the Japanese: While the ordinary ice cream is called “aisu” in Japanese, the soft-serve has been given a special name, “sofuto kurimu.”
It will be offered from July 29 in Rich Milk flavor. A cup will cost 520 yen ($5), plain waffle cone will cost 520 yen and the one with crushed almonds, raspberry or sprinkles, 550 yen. Rocket News said the new offerings will be available only at its new branch (also set to open on July 29) at the Ebina Service Area highway rest stop in Kanagawa Prefecture.
