Perhaps, this video will make you weep.
A 25-year-old elephant that was roaming around the Kavadiammal temple in Pallam, Coimbatore, India, had an accidental fall and died on the spot, on Tuesday. But her two-year-old boy couldn’t take it. He kept prodding his dead mother with his trunk and shooed away whoever tried to near them.
Though the officials separated them for a while, the calf again returned to his mother in an attempt to wake her up. Finally, after 36 long hours of struggle, forest officials managed to reach the dead elephant and performed a post-mortem analysis.
