Twilight heartthrob Kristen Stewart stunned the world with her spectacular eye make-up at Cannes.

While many thought Stewart was setting a new trend by sporting a bold red eyeshadow completely rimming her eyes, in reality this makeup technique has been in existence for quite some time.

In Korea and Japan, fashionistas call it the hangover beautyor ‘Byojaku face.

Ironically, this makeup gives a sick and vulnerable look, at the same time making the wearer appear pretty.

The ‘Byojaku Face’ originated in Japan when Ranzuki, a popular teen magazine sported on its cover a sickly teenager with a cute, pretty face. Somehow, the young women took a liking to it, as it made they look vulnerable to men.
