Xiaomi’s innovation seems to be never-ending.
Last month, the China-based mobile company stepped out of its regular ‘mobile’ zone and unveiled its range of smart home appliances— an innovative rice cooker and the impossibly thin 5.9mm television.
Now, the company has gone a step further to grab more eyeballs.
On its official Twitter page, Xiaomi tweeted: “There’s more to Mi than meets the eye. Xiaomi has teamed up with Hasbro for Soundwave: Mi Pad 2 that turns into a transformer. ”
Hasbro is an American multinational toy and board game company known for making the most sought-after Transformer toys, such as Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. The toy line inspired the ever-popular Transformers, a science fiction movie in which alien robots disguise themselves by transforming into vehicles.
Xiaomi’s robot pad will be released as ‘Transformers Special Edition’ on Wednesday, according to Gizmo China. However, this won’t be a working model. The makeshift robot will enter the crowdfunding stage and once it hits the goal, it will start shipping from May 13. The Mi Pad 2 robot will cost $20.
