An Indian soldier miraculously survived for six days buried beneath a Himalayan avalanche but is fighting for his life in a Delhi hospital. Lance Naik Hanamanthappa was one of ten Indian soldiers feared to have died in the disaster last week on the 19,000ft high Siachen Glacier in the remote Himalayas, close to the border between India and Pakistan. A search was on for the soldiers though the authorities did not believe that they could be rescued.
