Abul Bajandar is suffering from epidermodysplasia verruciformis, a rare genetic skin condition dubbed tree-man disease, he being one of the only three diagnosed cases in the world so far. Of the 15 surgeries required to completely get rid of the growths, Bajandar has undergone one, which has brought him hope to return to his old life as a village rickshaw driver. The growths which had developed over the past 10 years weigh 11 pounds (five kilo). A rickshaw puller, Bajandar was forced to quit his job when these warts began to develop a decade ago. Similarly, in 2008, an Indonesian villager underwent a string of operations to remove massive warts all over his body.
