Japan’s SKY Perfect JSAT has announced plans to collaborate with Planet Labs of the US to build an Earth observation satellite constellation to strengthen its position in space defense and intelligence. This marks another step forward for Japan’s civilian-military satellite business and its integration with those of its allies.
SKY Perfect JSAT is a provider of satellite TV broadcasting services and the operator of the largest satellite communications business in Asia. With 17 satellites in geostationary orbit, it currently provides satellite coverage from North America to the Indian Ocean for both commercial and governmental purposes.
