Authorities in Indonesia have arrested three people on suspicion of smuggling narcotics from the United States.

According to West Jakarta Police narcotics unit chief Erick Frendriz, a tip-off from the Customs and Excise Office helped the authorities make the arrests, The Jakarta Post reported.

One of those arrested was attempting to retrieve drug packages from a West Jakarta post office. Frendriz said 19 packages containing crystal methamphetamine were confiscated in a shipment from the US. The drugs were hidden inside coffee sachets to avoid being detected.

A Chinese suspect who was about to pick up the shipment from the Daan Mogot Post Office in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, was arrested on May 2. The two other suspects were arrested on the next day. They reportedly posed as couriers at a shipping company and a post office in Taman Sari, West Jakarta.

Authorities are continuing their investigations.
