The Indian army inflicted heavy casualties on Naga militants belonging to NSCN (K) along the Indo-Myanmar border early on Wednesday, according to media reports.
At about 4:45 am, a team of Indian commandos carried out the counter-terrorist operation close to Langkhu village near the Indo-Myanmar border, News18 reported.

The army’s eastern command tweeted that reports of it suffering heavy casualties were incorrect. The army also denied that it had launched a surgical strike. News 18 quoted a source as saying, “The narrative of today’s operation being a surgical strike is wrong and refuted. The Eastern Command’s tweet truthfully covers the full contours of the operation.”
The operation was reportedly launched after a group of insurgents attacked an Indian Army column that was moving along the Indo-Myanmar border, according to the army.

India Today reported that the army said its soldiers did not cross the international border and reiterated that no troops had been killed in the operation.
