The competition between child stars on the America’s Got Talent Show has come to an end with Filipino-American Angelica Hale going into the finals while Hong Kong girl Celine Tam Tsz-kwan failed to win the US audience.
The huge voice of 10-year-old Hale stole the show on Tuesday night when she performed a rendition of Usher’s vocals when singing David Guetta’s “Without You”, according to the talent show’s Facebook page.
The young Filipina impressed the audience when she covered Andra Day’s hit song “Rise Up” and earned a standing ovation from the judging panel in her first performance in June.
Hale needed a kidney transplant when she was four years old and her mother donated her kidney to save her daughter’s life.
The youngster has often been seen by netizens as Celine Tam’s main rival on the show, Apple Daily reported.
Celine sang “How Far I’ll Go” in the semifinals but received mixed views for her performance from the judging panel.
Judge Mel B hit out at her choice of song for the second time, saying it was “too much musical theater” and couldn’t showcase Celine’s voice.
American viewers seemed to agree with Mel B’s comment.
Ten talents will compete on September 19, US time, for $1 million.
