A group of three Chinese and a Kenyan have been charged in Kenya after they were caught with trophies from hunting wildlife. On January 4, the four were arrested in their house in the Kilimani area of Nairobi, where police found game trophies including leopard skins, rhino horn, pieces of ivory as well as a live tortoise, Capital FM Kenya reported.
Police also confiscated cigarettes and alcoholic drinks. The four men have been identified to be Shang Li Yan, Xing Wei, Zhang Jie and David Oseko.
The raid was conducted by a joint task force made up of the Kenya Wildlife Service, the Kenya Bureau of Standards and the Kenya Revenue of Authority.
Authorities said a considerable amount of meat confiscated from the house was from dogs and other wild animals. Public health officials will also be assisting in the investigations.
Police were tipped off by locals, who said they called authorities after they detected an awful smell from the house.
