A 35-year-old Filipino-American woman in Las Vegas, Nevada, was sentenced to life in prison for stabbing and killing her pregnant sister-in-law.
In 2013, Elinor Indico claimed she was defending herself when she stabbed her sister-in-law Ashley Indico with a double-edged “ninja knife,” also killing her unborn child, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
Elinor’s brother, Aristeo, wanted Elinor to move out of their apartment after she was caught using drugs around his children. Ashley and Elinor had an argument and Elinor stabbed Ashley at least 14 times.
On May 11, Elinor was convicted of murder with a deadly weapon and found guilty of the manslaughter of an unborn child, child abuse and child neglect. On June 26, the district court of Nevada sentenced Elinor to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
