Three domestic workers were jailed for 14 weeks each by a Singapore State Court on Friday after pleading guilty to charges of conspiring to embezzle more than 200 valuables and household items from their employer’s home in October last year.
The court heard that the three Filipinos, aged between 29 and 32, were working for a 47-year-old woman surnamed Yeo in an apartment in Queen Astrid Park, Shin Min Daily News reported.
On the afternoon on October 10, the maids were tidying up the child’s room, where they found a lot of old clothes that had become too small for the employer’s grown-up child.
They agreed to clean out the wardrobe for good, helped themselves to whatever they believed the employer’s family would no longer need, and tried to send these items to their families in the Philippines.
They packed three big carton boxes with 283 items with a combined value of S$5,416 (US$4,111). The stolen items included T-shirts, jeans, socks, swimsuits, baby-care goods like diapers, wipes and bottle nipples, as well as a juicer and other small appliances.
The 29-year-old defendant arranged a courier from the airline freight service and had her box sent out on October 13.
At 10pm on October 14, the employer was puzzled by the sudden presence of two boxes from their workers at home. To her surprise, it turned out to be goods that belonged to them. Yeo called the police, who managed to intercept the sent package in time.
The three women pleaded guilty on May 4. Each was jailed for 14 weeks.

The mere fact that those things were already packed in the boxes ready to be sent home without their employer’s consent = THEFT. I am only reacting to what was written. If you could confirm and clear things then maybe my connotation / opinion will change.
Pag isa kang domestic helper …sorry. In the Philippines there are a lot of families VICTIMIZED by newly employed house maids of THEFT. Isa na kami …hinahakot gradually ang mga imported towels, linens we brought home from abroad.
Dapat ang mga nag-aaply na DH abroad, may PSYCHOLOGICAL test. Pag hindi papasa…hindi pwedeng lumabas.
Mangibabain da met anya ngay tatta mkulong dan adda bad record da.
Seeing the general comments from the Filipinos that disagree with what the 3 maids had done and also agreed to them being punished, it reinforced my belief all along that Filipinos are generally good and honest people whom I am proud to have many as my friends.

Marami naman kabalbalan din na pinaggagawa ng mga kalahi natin sa abroad. Hindi lang puro amo rin ang may kasalanan. Sa Pilipinas may katulong na pumasok sa bahay ng mayaman sa Bulacan. Yong babae may grocery,,,yong mga bata pumasok sa school, yong lalaki pumasok sa trabaho. 3 days pa lang yong katulong as katulong sa bahay. Si Mrs bumalik sa bahay dahil may nakalimutan…nakita na lang niya yong katulong naghahalungkat sa closets sa room nila, sinaksak ng katulong ang amo niya ng ilang beses at napatay niya,
Ang KATWIRAN ay hindi laging pabor sa katulong. Maraming magnanakaw na katulong. Kung magnanakaw ka….kahit saan ka mapunta…magnanakaw ka pa rin FOREVER.
Taga laba namin sa Pilipinas dati….magnanakaw rin. Ang dami niyang ninakaw sa bahay.
Every time you tidying up specially the old things of the children you must put in one place and let employer check…when they say you can keep then you can send…haist…nextime kabayan, think first before you decide specially for the belongings of your employer….I’m blessed to have a good employer every time they see the things that I kept but of course I let them check first…always ask me to send back to Philippines….now you learn your mistake kabayan…don’t do that again…for those bashing them instead of criticising them let’s pray for them…in these world no one is perfect….
Wala,malabo yan irescue.Mali naman ang ginawa nila.Wala habol jan ang dfa kahit pa humingi ng tulong ang tatlong pinay na yan.

Nakakahiya kayo mga kababayan. Pag Arabu ang mga amo ninyo…inupakan na kayo. There are INSTANCES na ang pag-iisip ng mga katulong ay pangkatulong talaga, Biglang yaman ang gusto. Siguro dati na silang MAGNANAKAW dito sa Pilipinas.
