A 28-year-old Filipina domestic worker was charged with two counts of theft at the Eastern Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. Her employer, Justice Jonathan Harris, alleges that she stole his wallet last week.
Oriental Daily reports that the defendant, Canacio Marites Patino, is accused of having stolen the judge’s wallet – containing HK$700 (US$89) in cash, two credit cards and a driver’s license – at the judge’s villa in Mid-Levels, and HK$590 in cash from another domestic worker employed by the judge, between January 9 and 12.
The judge is reported to have questioned the defendant on discovering the theft but was met with denials. After terminating her contract, the judge reported the case to the police.
Officers intercepted the defendant at the Hong Kong International Airport on Tuesday as she tried to leave Hong Kong.
No plea was taken and the trial was adjourned until February 13. The defendant was remanded in custody.

This happened to me. Just this month. The helper admitted using my credit card to top up since August and latest was Feb. She’s been my FDW for more than 3 years and this was the first time she did something like this. She was imprisoned as she went to the police to admit the crime. Now we don’t know what to do with her

Big or small amount is still a theft..once recorded by the immigration..it would be risky to be back here for another employment..in her case according from the report..she was the same suspect who the co helper tells so.And judging that there’s a foul play behind her story….so do with the judge..the judge won’t ruin his reputation as a judge with that small amount of money too…just my point of view…..the truth always prevail…
But when I was in Europe, there are some who steal ipod and was reported to police and was caught. I’m not saying that I sided anyone. We doesn’t know the real truth until the judgment is over. And everyone has different attitude… maybe true maybe not. … maybe just an accusation so let’s see… but according to the story, there is also one victim employed by him and suspect is the same person. So let’s just wait and let her prove her innocence…… just an opinion….
No normal people or clear minded person could do that, not unless shes sick in mind. Stealing is a crime big or small amount especially in HK laws. If you steal no one will trust you anymore. If its true or not i hope justice will prevail, Truth will come out.

If i will stole something i make sure i stole a big amount a make my family so rich that i will not work as a servant with this very rich people. I don’t believe on this accusation it happened many times. How youcan stole something that you can’t even buy a ticket going home. Something fishy on this matter. So nonesense.
