A 26-year-old father and a 27-year-old stepmother were charged in Hong Kong with the murder of a five-year-old girl, while the girl’s 53-year-old step-grandmother was charged with child abuse on Sunday.
At 1pm on Saturday, police received a report from a man that his five-year-old daughter had collapsed in an apartment at Tuen Mun Trend Plaza in the New Territories, Sing Tao Daily reported.
Officers found the girl unconscious; she was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police Chief Inspector Chan Yan said there were many wounds and bruises, new and old, of various sizes on the deceased girl’s legs, thighs and shoulder. Some of them were putrid and had not healed.
Meanwhile, officers also found similar wounds and bruises on the girl’s eight-year-old brother. The deceased girl and her brother appeared to have been badly malnourished.
Officers later confiscated a cane, a pair of slippers and a pair of scissors in the apartment, suspecting that the culprits had used these items to abuse the children.
It was understood that the deceased girl and her brother were living with their father, stepmother, step-grandmother and a seven-year-old stepsister, Wen Wei Pao reported, adding that no injuries and bruises were found on the stepsister.
The deceased girl had dropped out of kindergarten in late October last year, Oriental Daily reported.
A schoolteacher found wounds on her brother in November and the school social worker referred the case to the Social Welfare Department. However, police said they had no record of any child-abuse case involving the family.

police are annoying.they could have investigated the case even without record from family.those police should also be punish coz the lil girl didnt die if only the police had known that the family were abusing those kids when social welfare reported of the suspicious wounds.with without records police should have immediate action to whatever case reported to them…
How insensitive the biological father could get. He should receive the severest of verdict. It was like he brought his children into a lions pit. The family whom he chose to live with his children are sadistic evils.

The police should have investigated the case carefully…this wont happen to the girl if they take the case seriously when the social worker referred the case of child abuse with his brother… Its so sad that this little angel suffered so much from his own father.. And crazy stepmom and step grandmother….
