A couple charged with murdering a five-year-old girl appeared at Hong Kong’s Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning.
No pleas were taken from the two defendants, the girl’s 26-year-old father and 27-year-old stepmother, who are charged with one count of murder. The girl died on January 6 in a flat at Tuen Mun Trend Plaza in the New Territories.
As reported by HK01.com, the prosecutor said in court that the couple had abused the girl severely on January 5. Her father had thrown her in the air, hitting her head on the ceiling, at least ten times. The couple had also grabbed the girl’s arms and legs and shook her, the prosecutor said. The girl’s step-grandmother was reportedly out at work at the time.
The step-grandmother found the girl unconscious at around noon on January 6 and called emergency services. The giril was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
The prosecutor also stated that the girl and her 8-year-old brother had been abused by the two defendants for some time.
According to statements taken from the brother and a 7-year-old stepsister, the deceased girl and the boy suffered abuse at the hands of the couple nearly every day. The couple slapped the children’s faces with slippers, poked their chests with scissors and hit them with a rattan cane.
The couple did not give the children adequate food and forced them to sleep on the floor without any blankets.
The case was adjourned until March 6 to allow further police investigations. Both defendants were remanded in custody.
Heart Breaking and put me in tear! Remembered from the first news about over this case mentioned that the 8 year-old boy was found bruises on his body and the school teacher called Social Welfare Department for child protection unit seeking for help but no follow up was made.
If the teacher really concerns on the conditions of the boy, she will come and visit the family to observe the situations, but the reality no body care about, what a Shame !! WILL NEVER allowed my kids study at Hing Tak Primary School for those reasons. (For the teacher and the SWD’s staff, you will lives forever with regrets and blamed, for allowing this case happened)
The police should have to investigate the school as well as The Social Welfare Department for ignoring the complained. The department was stands to protect this kind of problems but seems the staff have no senses on child abuse cases. Ombudsmen should involve on the investigation because the SWD and the school was neglecting their jobs. RIP little Angel

Heartbreaking & extremely tragic. No punishment is severe enough for these evil people. I appel to hk goverment give them more then 100 time hang .Poor children had to suffer so much in the hands of their own devil family!

The plight of the defenseless girl moves me to tears. The evil couple will certainly rot in hell forever. While I am deeply saddened by the way they abused the poor girl, I am also disappointed that the police who have already been informed about the abuse months ahead had chosen to do nothing. How can our HK police be so inefficient. The irresponsible police officers in charge of the case must surely live forever with the sad compunction that they did nothing when they could have saved the child’s life.
Lunatic couple… Crazy.. Evil… No heart at all… Id just hope they will rot in jail… Everyday is like a hell living with them… Poor little angel… When i saw the photos of these evil couple they look so good… But they are evil… Really evil.
Just sad . this wont happen to the girl if the school’s report had prompted enough interest for the SWD to visit the family… And they will see the wounds on the girl and will changed the course of event… But still thankful that the brother was rescued from this two evils… And the evil step grandmother…
