Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower is investigating the death of an Indonesian domestic worker who fell from a seventh floor apartment while cleaning a window.
“Investigations are ongoing,” a spokesperson at the Ministry told The Straits Times on Thursday, about the accident that happened on Tuesday.
The Indonesian domestic worker, who was in her 20s, started working in Singapore a month ago. She fell from the seventh-floor flat while cleaning a window in Carissa Park on Flora Drive in Tampines.

The maid, who suffered injuries to her back and head, was sent to Changi General Hospital.
A spokesman for the Indonesia Embassy in Singapore said it was worrying that such incidents continue to happen. He said the embassy was closely monitoring the case and taking all steps necessary after the police and Ministry investigations.
The embassy reminded all foreign domestics to refrain from chores that may be dangerous, such as cleaning windows in a high-rise building.
Singapore has banned foreign domestic workers from cleaning the outside of windows as dozens of foreign maids have plunged to their death while cleaning windows over the past decade.
Currently, employers are required to sign a safety agreement, which states clearly that foreign domestic workers are only allowed to clean the exterior of a window if grilles have been installed and are locked at all times during the cleaning process. The employer or an adult representative must also be present to supervise the work.
