Lifestyle: Song Joong-ki or Lee Min-ho, who is the hottest now?

Who is the brightest star in South Korea’s entertainment scene right now?  That’s still a million-dollar question as recent data offer different answers.

According to Yibada, the “Descendants of the Sun” actor topped the list of 10 Hottest Korean Stars of Early 2016, based on Taiwanese votes polled on “Daily View” website. After Song Joong-ki came Lee Min-ho and Kim Soo-hyun.

But a Movie News Guide research showed that “Bounty Hunter” Lee Min-ho was ahead of Song Joong-ki in terms of popularity.

In the Taiwanese poll, Song Joong-ki scored 9,638 points, while Lee Min-ho received 1,767 points. Kim Soo-hyun settled with just 1,270. But here, consider the time period as it was based on a real-time analysis of internet data mined during Jan 24-July 24 this year, when Song Joong-ki, Song Hye-kyo, their rumored relationship and “Descendants of the Sun” were all hot news.

But Lee Min-ho regained the spotlight in the run-up to his action flick “Bounty Hunters” that premiered on July 1. Movie News Guide concluded that Min-ho is ahead of the “Battleship Island” actor in terms of popularity because Lee was chosen to represent South Korea at the 2016 KCON in California. Lee has been selected as Seoul’s representative for Korean films and drama at the event that takes place from July 29 to 31 at the Staples Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Song Joong-ki is filming for “Battleship Island” and a sequel to the super-hit “Descendants of the Sun” is being talked about.
