중국 베이징에 사는 한 여성이 맥도날드에서 배달해 먹던 맥윙서 깃털이 박혀있는 걸 보고 혼비백산하는 사건이 최근 일어났다.
이 여성은 인터넷에 4월21일자 영수증과 함께 동영상을 올렸는데, 동영상 속 영수증 옆에는 깃털이 삐죽 빠져나와 있는 맥윙이 놓여있었다.
여성의 가족은 주문한 맥윙을 거의 다 먹었을 때 이런 놀라운(?) 발견을 했다. 여성의 딸이 마지막 남은 맥윙을 먹으려고 덜썩 물었더니 입속에 깃털이 느껴져서 깜짝 놀란 것.
여성은 맥도날드로 달려가 해명을 요구했다. 맥도날드는 맥윙 요금의 10배와 함께 현금이나 쿠폰 형태로 300위안(약 5만원)의 보상금을 지급하겠다고 제안했으나, 그녀는 제안을 거절했다.
대신 여성은 중국 국가식품약품감독관리국에 정식으로 알렸고, 결국 맥도날드 중국 법인은 웨이보에 본 사건에 대한 공식 사과문을 올리는 한편 철저한 조사도 약속했다.
누리꾼들은 대체로 “깜짝 놀랐다”는 반응을 보였다. 또 일부 누리꾼은 맥도날드가 진짜 닭고기로 만들었다는 걸 확실히 보여주기 위해 맥윙에 깃털을 남겨놓은 건 아닌지 의심이 된다는 의견도 남겼다.
