A teenager with an apparent history of heart problems collapsed while jogging during a physical education lesson at a Tsuen Wan school and was pronounced dead after being taken to Yan Chai Hospital.
The 19-year-old male, with the surname Xiao, was a form four student at Lui Ming Choi Lutheran College. He was doing a warm-up exercise for the lesson at Shing Mun Valley Sports Ground when the accident occurred, Wen Wei Po reported.
A teacher immediately gave first-aid and used an external defibrillator on the student while the school called police. The student was rushed to hospital but declared dead on arrival.
The boy’s mother said her son had also collapsed at the school in June last year and was diagnosed with heart disease, news website HK01.com reported.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
