Police are looking for a local man who allegedly robbed a Filipino domestic worker in a guest house in Mong Kok in Kowloon on Sunday.

The 29-year-old domestic worker newly met a local man who was introduced by a friend and they went together to a guest house in the Tung Lok Building at 34-36 Nullah Road in Mong Kok, Sing Tao Daily reported.

The local man paid about HK$100 to rent a room at about 2pm.

After two hours, when the worker went to the bathroom, the man grabbed her backpack but she caught him and they had a fight.

After a struggle, the man got away with her bag, which had HK$1,000 (US$640) in cash, HK$5,000 worth of jewelry and a mobile phone worth around HK$1,000 – and escaped.

The woman called the police to help. After investigating surveillance camera footage, officers are looking for a local man aged around 30 who is about 170 centimeters tall.

The crime squad at Mong Kok Police station is handling the case, but no one has been arrested yet.
