Hong Kong police sent more than a hundred officers to search for gang members in Kam Shan Country Park and the Eagle’s Nest nature trail in Cheung Sha Wan in Kowloon on Sunday, amid rising robberies and burglaries in the district.

RTHK has reported that the police also delivered pamphlets and whistles to residents and hikers, encouraging them not to go walking alone on hiking trails. The advice given includes carrying less cash and valuables and staying alert for suspicious people.

Earlier this month, a 47-year-old mainland Chinese man was arrested in Tuen Mun, in Hong Kong’s New Territories, for having been involved in at least four robbery cases on hiking trails. He was also identified as an illegal immigrant. His accomplices are on the run.
